The Process

How we bring your mural vision to life

While each job is different with its own special circumstances, this is the general idea of what the process looks like when you book me to paint your mural. Hopefully this answers most questions, but feel free to email me with any other questions you may have.

1

Initial Contact

This is where you contact me with your mural idea and ask me if I can do it, what would be the cost if so, and when would I be able to get to it.

2

Estimate

I get the details about what you want, then send you a quote for the job, maybe even an inspiration pic for reference.

Please note: I will not send full blown designs at this stage.

3

Agreement

Once the price is settled and agreed to, you send me a deposit and I in turn will put you on my schedule and begin designing your mural.

4

Design Phase

My design guarantee is this: Nothing goes on your wall without your 100% approval. I always provide a digital sketch of the mural as well as what it would look like projected on your wall. Edits to the design can be made based on your feedback. Sometimes I get it right the first time, but usually I can nail it within three attempts.

This part of the process can take a day or it can take a month. It depends on many things. I will be in contact very regularly at this stage to get the information I need to design what you want. The deposit I collect covers me for my design time and protects my mural planning schedule.

5

Mural Painting

This is the fun part! I show up and start painting. Everyone's excited and changes start happening daily to the wall. I work pretty consistently until it's done. I make sure you are happy with it before I consider it "done".

6

Final Payment

This is where you hold up your end of the bargain, lol. And we all shake hands and go our separate ways.

"Can I afford a mural?"

Only you can answer that. But here are some examples of past jobs to get a rough idea of what a mural costs.

Example 1

  • Area: 22 feet x 9 feet
  • Content: Realism
  • Surface type: Drywall
  • Accessibility: Floor level or one ladder, no stairs or scaffolding
  • Travel distance: 1 hour
  • Price: $9,000

Example 2

  • Area: 40 feet x 17 feet
  • Content: Mixed graphics and realism
  • Surface: Brick
  • Accessibility: Difficult, scaffolding, ladders, car traffic
  • Travel distance: 1 hour
  • Price: $18,500

Example 3

  • Area: 5 feet x 6 feet
  • Content: Kids room, favorite character
  • Surface: Drywall
  • Accessibility: Easy, step ladder or on foot
  • Travel distance: Local
  • Price: $1,500

As you can see, the price depends on several factors such as square footage, the accessibility of the site, the type of surface, the content, and the distance to travel. With those details, I can get you a quote pretty quickly.
