Mural Artist & Creative Visionary
Natalie is a mural artist living in central Kentucky who loves bringing people's ideas to life on a grand scale.
From realism to abstract expressionism, she works in many styles and genres and is not limited to a certain "look" in her designs.
Although I'm originally from Campbellsville, I lived in Lexington for 20 years, but eventually settled in Versailles.
I graduated from the University of Kentucky with an Art Studio major, and started painting murals full time in 2007.
But my love for Art has been with me for as long as I can remember. Both sides of my family are filled with artists, architects, sculptors, photographers, digital artists, etc. So you could say that art is in my blood. My own big sister, Emily, is one of them. When we were young, I would often find her drawing copies of Disney movie covers from our collection. Always following in her footsteps, I would plop myself down beside her and do the same.
When I got a little older, I entered school art competitions and offered my services as a tshirt and poster designer to all school clubs and sports.
Little by little, I gained more experience and confidence eventually to where I am now, looking upon walls as big as 60 feet as my blank canvas.
I find it difficult to describe my art work because I'm always painting other people's ideas and visions. I used to think of myself as less of an artist because of this, but now I think of it as an honor. Many people have great ideas but lack the ability to execute it for their business, organization, or their home space.
And that's where I come in!
Painting for other people pushes me out of my comfort zone, forcing me to get out of my head and into someone else's. This leads me to try new techniques, new styles, sometimes even a whole new design process. That's exciting for me.
In the end, the biggest reward for me when I finish a job is to hear my client say it looks better than what they imagined, or something to that effect.
